What is the EVO ICL?

The EVO ICL is an additive lens placed behind the iris and in front of the natural lens made from collamer. Collamer comes from collagen, a material your body naturally produces.

Due to this, the EVO ICL is biocompatible with the eye's natural chemistry. It is often an excellent choice for patients with preexisting dry eye syndrome or those worried about dry eyes after correcting their vision.

Because the EVO ICL is an additive lens, it does not remove any tissue from the eye or reshape the eye in any way. Once it is placed in the eye, you will not know it is there, and neither will others.

Who is a Good Candidate for the EVO ICL?

The EVO ICL is only meant to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. You may be a good candidate for the EVO ICL if the following applies:

You have stable eyes, meaning your prescription has not changed in at least a year
You are in good health and do not suffer from autoimmune conditions that would make it challenging to recover after the EVO ICL procedure, like lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or Sjogren's syndrome
Your eyes are healthy, and you don't have any conditions like glaucoma
You're not currently pregnant or nursing
You're nearsighted or have astigmatism within the treatment limits of the EVO ICL
You're between the ages of 21 and 45
You have realistic expectations about what the EVO ICL can achieve

The only way to determine if you're a good candidate for the EVO ICL is by scheduling a consultation at Eye Specialty Group!

What is the EVO ICL Procedure Like?

You'll begin your EVO ICL procedure at Eye Specialty Group by receiving numbing eye drops. These drops ensure you don't feel any pain and will be comfortable during the procedure.

After the numbing eye drops spread over the surface of your eye, the procedure can begin. First, your surgeon will create a small incision in your eye.

After creating the incision, they will unfold the EVO ICL and place it into your eye. They will make necessary adjustments to ensure it's in the correct placement before putting drops or ointment in your eye to keep your cornea lubricated.

Once the ICL is in the correct spot, the procedure is over. It only takes about 20-30 minutes to complete, with many patients experiencing improved vision almost immediately.

What Sets the EVO ICL Apart from Other Vision Correction Procedures?

One of the most significant things that set the EVO ICL apart from other vision correction procedures is it's a reversible procedure. Because it's reversible, this gives many patients much-needed peace of mind knowing that if they change their minds, the EVO ICL can be removed by their eye doctor.

You can also have it removed to have it replaced with an intraocular lens when cataract surgery becomes necessary later in life. Another reason the EVO ICL is also different from other vision correction procedures is that no flap is created, and there's no tissue removed from the cornea.

The eye is left entirely intact, making it a remarkably non-invasive procedure. The EVO ICL is an additive lens, meaning it sits in the eye in addition to the natural lens to help improve vision and correct refractive errors.

The EVO ICL also features remarkable features like built-in UV filtering to protect your eyes whenever you're outdoors and excellent vision day and night. You'll also enjoy having better vision than you were able to achieve while depending on visual aids to see the world around you.

EVO ICL Vs. Other Procedures

Is the EVO ICL Procedure Permanent?

Although you can have the EVO ICL procedure reversed, it is meant to be permanent. Most patients with the EVO ICL implanted are happy with it and do not want it removed.

It is virtually invisible after implantation, providing patients with crisper, clearer vision from the moment they wake up until they go to sleep. Most patients with the EVO ICL report that they would choose it again.

With the EVO ICL, patients can look forward to the kind of vision they've only ever dreamed of for the rest of their lives. Whether hiking, cuddling on the couch with your dog or getting ready to face a new day, the EVO ICL will help you see the world as it was always meant to be seen.
