Dr. Lucie Elfervig received her B.S. in nursing from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (U.S.L) at Lafayette, her Masters of Science degree in pediatric nursing form Northwestern State University, Natchitoches, LA and her Doctorate degree as a Doctor in Nursing Science (D.N.S) in Ophthalmology and Adult Health from Louisiana State University Medical Center at New Orleans in 1996. She also did doctorate studies at University of Memphis (U of M) and University of Tennessee of at Memphis. Dr. Lucie acquired her Masters of Arts Degree, in Catholic Studies, from Christian Brothers University at Memphis, 2009. She also completed studies in pre-medicine courses at U.S.L. and U of M. She completed Optometric courses at Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Lucie completed a clinical rotation in Ophthalmology at the Vitreoretinal Foundation and is the first D.N.S. in Ophthalmology in the nation.
Dr. Lucie served as an Independent Ophthalmic Consultant and Clinical Specialist with the Eye Specialty Group as an Advanced Practice RN with prescription privileges, in the examination and treatment of ocular conditions since 1992. Dr. Lucie is a former Practitioner, Researcher, and Educator and is Board Certified by the National Board of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses. She is active in her community providing vision screenings and has traveled to foreign countries for various eye care missions, including Peru, Mexico and Africa.
Dr. Lucie is and Associate member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Memphis Eye Society as well as the Tennessee Nurses Association, American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Greater Memphis Area-Advanced Practice Nurses, and National Association of Prolife Nurses.
